Artists universally aspire to achieve paintings depicting their subject in various painterly styles, attempting to convey their emotions or mood that inspired them to paint that particular subject at that particular moment.
The painting styles may vary from abstract, through contemporary, loose or realistic to photographic, these are usually developed or evolve with practice and ability.
I am in awe of nature's ability to fuse all of these elements into one fantastic, gigantic canvas using the broadest and purest pallet of colours imaginable, this is nature at it's finest.
This is what I too strive to capture and convey in my humble artistic endevours. It is and always will be my quest to successfully capture the infinite wondrous glimpses of nature.
For me, so much of the beauty of nature is in the detail, be it the finest stamin of the most subtle pastel toned flower, or the roughest textures and deepest colours of an ancient rock face, it's the detail that I think tells the story.
Fifty odd years spent in the printing industry, where my involvement in the production of books and reproduction art conditioned me to the importance of paying attention to detail and colour, has most certainly influenced the way in which I approach my art.
One of the most important elements to be learned, or developed, in art is observation. Our ability to actually notice detail and take in all aspects of what we are observing, as opposed to simply admiring what ever it is we are looking at, this widens through practice and training. It is exhilarating to be able to see so much of what surrounds us, rather than simply taking it all for granted.
I do hope that when next you look at the forest, you also notice the trees, for they have the grace, the form and colour which highlights their unique or individual beauty.
